Composer Ieva Dubova recognises that Female composers have long been underrepresented in concert programming, often overshadowed by their male counterparts. Ieva has recently noticed active engagement from her fellow performance pianists and colleagues to promote more female works and was inspired to take more active action in the matter herself as well.

To promote gender parity in the music industry and elevate the works of living female composers, a new initiative called Fem-Edition has emerged. This project aims to showcase the talent and diversity of female composers by recording their works and scheduling them in concert programmes.

By shining a spotlight on these often-overlooked artists, Fem-Edition hopes to encourage equal placement in concert programmes and increase awareness of the contributions of female composers to the classical music world. This much-needed initiative serves as a powerful reminder that talent knows no gender, and it is time for female composers to receive the recognition and platform they deserve.
