Lighthouse

Lighthouse is an ongoing project inspired by the Northern seaside around Newcastle Upon Tyne.

It looks to feature field recordings soft electronics and piano to capture imagination and transport one within a story that begins at the shore. The project is ongoing and planned to be completed in April 2023 with a full album premiere. However the first track - Prologue and the first chapter of the story is already available on Bandcamp as well as as a video on youtube.

Combining electronic textures and contemporary piano this EP will dive from tonality to atonal episodes and extended techniques and solo moments for electronic sound. Consider the upcoming EP an emotional journey of sound.

Reviews of the Prologue -

The first release by Newcastle-Upon-Tyne based Latvian pianist and composer Ieva Dubova since her magnificent Preludes album is Lighthouse. And it is another of her beautifully understated and mostly quiet pieces that blends gentle but distinctive harmonic language with moments of rich dissonance [although this is much more tonal than recent works] and quiet ambience while Ieva’s playing is delicate, expressive and thoughtful. I have been fortunate not only to have formed a great friendship with Ieva over the past year but to have had her perform twice at my live events [playing my piano] where she has captivated audiences with her performances and her compositions. Lighthouse is a further reminder of her outstanding talent.
